Potty Train My Dog?
Hello and welcome to my website about frugal living. Let me start off and tell you I love my pet. She is 150 pounds plus gal and a real saint. So believe me to potty train my dog correctly was really important. With this said I was visiting a friend a while back my summer day and happened to look over at her neighbors house and seen this young man beating a dog with a stick. My first instinct was to call the police and/or the Humane Society. I stopped and took a deep breath and went over to see what the world was going on. This man was frustrated and told me”I want to potty train my dog“. I explained to him that dogs are really understand why they would be physically abused. If you want to train an animal such as a dog one must use the reward system such as some type of dog treat. Instead of me explaining here how I potty train my dog, I I have found a YouTube video that is fairly close to the method I have successfully used. The end of the story is after a few months the man was no longer beating his dog with a stick and he potty trained his dog. Other good news I hope the man had to move and is no longer with his dog, my friend who is his neighbor found it a good home. So let me share a YouTube video in which a similar training method that I use. Please enjoy
How to potty train a puppy, all the essentials in a 4 minute video. For more, visit my page at training-dogs.com If you have questions, please come to my website as I can’t answer them here.
Remember it doesn’t have to cost a lot to potty train your dog just a little time and effort should get you on the right track . Frugal living can include owning a pet whether it be a dog or a cat .

I Love My Pet
Hello and welcome to keep me off welfare.com. Being frugal and/or cheap definitely does not mean not having enjoyment in your life.
What about the cost that owning a pet might bring ? I love my pet so these costs make my pets priceless. Plus if you have a home body lifestyle to value obtained from the beautiful creatures is again priceless .
It doesn’t matter whether it’s a large dog, small dog, a cat, fish, ferret, snake or reptile, raising chickens, goats, mice, or maybe something as large as the course. But for most conversation here dogs and cats are the most popular pets.
A large dog such as a St. Bernard St. year can cost up to $250 a year to feed each. Plus we are things such as vet bills which include yearly checkups, shots and/or sicknesses.
If you do not already have a pet, one is a good idea to research the breed that brings interest to you . Will find different breeds of cat and dog have different temperaments and/or health issues . A example is St. Bernards a lot of times have hip dysplasia issues and a life expectancy of around eight years . They also from time to time have a genetic problem which require eyelid surgery . So please research the dog or cat that interest you to make sure you’ll be able to pay for any special needs .
Until recently we had a cat that we and the dogs love very much . She live to be almost 20 years old . If You’re looking to love get a cat but if you want to be loved get a dog .
Cats are very independent animals but we to find them to be very entertaining at times. I feel it Take less maintenance than a dog but dogs do things like alert you when a stranger comes around . Whether person likes a dog or a cat does not make them good or evil but just a preference on how they see life . We just happen to love St. Bernard’s..
Here is a little video of my wife’s Christmas gift last year Allie Mae

Cheap Livng and Going Off The Grid
Hello Mr. Frugal Frank and welcome to keep me off welfare.com
Today I would like to talk about cheap living and going off the grid.
What is going off the grid about? It’s about not depending on your utility companies especially referring to electricity.
Starting in June 2012 about 16 or so coal fired power plants had been shutdown the United States due to EPA regulations. With more to come in this summer 2013. Which cause electric rates to rise by 200% in four years.
The shutting down of these coal-fired power plants might cause major power outages and/or brownouts across the country.
After seeing the governments response to the storm Sandy we have all learned that we the people cannot count on our government. One great reason to go off the grid.
Many people tell me they have a backup power generator. But the truth be told to run one of these can be a fairly costly proposition. Then if a power outage is long-term and widespread getting the fuel to run a generator might be next to impossible. So generating your own power using solar or wind should be the key to self sustainability.
The loss of refrigerated and frozen food in a time of a power outage can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars alone. Even though you might eat with natural gas and propane or oil it still takes electricity to run the furnace/blower.
Either buying panels or DIY panels can pay for themselves over the long term while giving security to you and your family. A little bit of time, effort, money and the desire to be self-sufficient can and will pay off.
With the solar industry and depressed state across the world picking up parts to build your own panels are at a very low cost at this time.
No time like now to enjoy cheap living and going off the grid to save money and have a piece of mind.
One thing about building your own system is you can start small expand as you get the time/money.
Just not solar power but also harnessing the power of wind can be helpful because a lot of the time the wind blows when sun isn’t shining .
Protect your family today and forever by supplying your electrical needs without depending on the government or the power company.
A little effort today to pay off big later and make you a hero to the ones you love .
So please check out the links on this page and enjoy cheap living and going off the grid!

Small Business Basics | How To Make A Business Plan
You have or need a business plan? Do you think ‘s unnecessary or you really need.
Sometimes business plan is important when trying to attract investors and/or the bank l0an.
A business plan is an essential roadmap for business success. This living document generally projects 3-5 years ahead and outlines the route a company intends to take to grow revenues. This part is very important on how to make a business plan is the time frame. . The reason for this is so if investors or bankers will need to know the time frame to expect return on their money. But try to be realistic and come up with a time frame that is totally unbelievable.. Don’t be one of those people who propose a plan to make 100 million in two years starting with $100 . Because most of the most of the time this would just. thing should be believableto make it sellable plan.
One place to start on how to make a business plan would be to go to the SBA.gov.
One important factor is to make your business plan unique. What things make your business different from what others are doing in the same market . A example would be a lawncare business , do you just cut grass or do landscaping , maybe you specialize in ponds, maybe you cut lawns to be like a golf green or maybe you just weed whack or trim ? What makes your small business unique ?
Identify Your Niche
Creating a niche for your business is essential to success. Often, business owners can identify a niche based on their own market knowledge, but it can also be helpful to conduct a market survey with potential customers to uncover untapped needs.
One part it is necessary is the structure of your business . whether it is to be the sole proprietorship , some type of corporation structure , a partnership , S Corporation , Limited Liability Company or some other type of structure. Be sure to do your research and possibly check with a legal advisor .
Choose Your Business Structure
Typical structure for a business plan for a start -up
- cover page and table of contents
- executive summary
- business description
- business environment analysis
- industry background
- competitor analysis
- market analysis
- marketing plan
- operations plan
- management summary

Frugal and Cheap Living
A
lot of people would say that there is no real difference between frugal and cheap living. But I find that the frugal person does things with pride and dignity. On the other hand a plain cheap person will do anything not to spend money.
One example is my friend Chuck who like me does not like I places. I bought a very safe and sturdy ladder to do some chores around my house. On the other hand Chuck uses a 50-year-old one rotten ladder and is working on this at heights of 20 feet. I have a great value on my health and safety but, Chuck on the other hand just it want to spend money on a ladder even it might keep him from getting hurt.
A cheap person might even live in a cardboard box when they have lots and lots of money. On the other hand if frugal person will try to keep their living conditions safe and healthy but trying to get the best value they possibly can.
Many people who are just old-fashioned cheap end up spending a lot of money carelessly because they fail to see the value in the things they buy. The old saying it doesn’t cost that much more to go first class has a lot of truth to it. Even when living I frugal lifestyle. So there is a big difference between frugal and cheap living.
You can be frugal without being plain old cheap! The true key is to find the value in the things that you want and need. Price isn’t the only deciding factor when being frugal but most times it is the factor when being cheap. What is meant by value? Many factors go into deciding on a purchase whether it be utilities, housing, transportation, food, entertainment, and all other needs that us human beings need. What are some of the factors that determine value? How long is an item going to last compared to its price? Here is an example, buying brake pads for your car do you buy the altar cheap ones for $25 or $45 for a set that has a lifetime guarantee from AutoZone. If your car is fairly new and you plan on keeping it for a very long time probably the $45 set will be the best value over a long period of time such as 5 to 10 years. If you use a set every two years over 10 years it would cost you over $150 for your brake shoes. This is just the basic example of value.
Good example here of being cheap would be not getting brake shoes till rotors were ruined. Thus costing $100 plus to fix your brakes. I find that most cheap people do not think of the consequences on spending their money.
On the other hand the true frugal person will look at the short-term and long-term value of each monetary transaction. This is true in all they do. Most of the time taking a frugal person from a regular person can be very difficult. But a cheap person usually sticks out like a sore thumb.
Being frugal is looking for value everything including relationships. This my friends is what life is really all about. Living a happy life doesn’t necessarily mean spending tons and tons of money. There is something to be said about the phrase “less is more”. As I get older I have found this to be very true. It is better to have a few nice things in a big pile of junk.
On the same hand frugal people can benefit from the non- frugal part of society. So many people have tons and tons of stuff that can be bought at their garage sales, flea markets, clearance sales, secondhand stores, thrift stores, eBay, and the list goes on and on and on. I find that paying full price for about anything is out of the question. Just look around and you can be surprised what you will find for a fraction of what you are spending now.
Like the time friend of mine was looking for a house to buy he was complaining about the high prices of houses. I told him he had to look other places than with the realtor. Such as tax sales, private sales, asked by word-of-mouth, look for estates, and these are just a few examples.
Same thing applies when buying a car. Going to a dealer is a almost guaranteed maximum price you will pay for a used car. Watching as you drive by, looking on craigslist, working in the auto trader, or any other want ad. Asking around such as friends and coworkers things like these are the places where you will find a great deal. Sometimes a person has to just look outside the box.
Being frugal takes a lot of work in practice. Being cheap on the other hand a lot of times takes no mental capacity at all. You just do not spend any money on anything!
Remember if you ever have to make the choice between frugal and cheap living I would choose the frugal way.
Thank you for coming,
Mr. Frugal Frank
Making Money Using Google And Small Business Basics
I’m not buy far a expert about Google But I was studying this past summer about how to rank on Google.. But was soon disappointed when they change all the rules.. Many people lost their Page Ranking In Google that went from having a healthy on-line business to no business at all..And once people figure out how to manipulate this system they will change it again.. So when someone is trying to sell some magic solution on How To Make Money using Google be very weary..
One thing I do know is that Google is in the business to make money and it seems that they do it well… What I noticed is a lot more paid ads on the pages..For a online business getting found on the Web can seen almost impossible to find free traffic (That is a way to get found on the first page or sometimes even page one ,two or three page ranking in Google)…
It started out just as easy as the Dewy Decibel System in the library…Google would take key works and file them so people could find you…Then layers of complex things like how many links you web-site has.. then they added the quality of those links… And so on …
It seemed to work for them because I see many more paid ads… If interested go to Google Adwords to learn more about buying ad space on Google..This seems to work for some but ads are sold on a per Click …..
I have read a lot about becoming a news or authority Web-Site…Money can still be made but the purpose isn’t to sell products…Finding what Google Likes is the trick…..
If wanting to get into the Internet is learning SEO ( Search Engine Optimization).. That is how and where to place Key words so Google Can place Your site into the right place .. Not the only thing to get a high page ranking but still a very important part of the puzzle..
A lot goes into trying to get Free traffic but to tell the truth there are on real guarantees on what Google is going to place you even if they do it at all…
One thing I have found is this SEO thing works a lot better in a smaller area or region… Say having a lawn service serving a few small towns or maybe the Pittsburgh area… Instead of the whole nation/world.. Before wasting tons of money buying these get rich crap(They all say how they are different from that other guy LOL) Where I learnt the most about the Internet World is from a Guru Chris Farrell… This is a membership Site and is fairly inexpensive to join… This is where I joined for a few months and learnt a ton of stuff but would have stayed with it longer but my “Real Job” was a call’n me back to work..
If Your interested in this Online World and you are a beginner I do truly suggest Chis Farrell Membership Web-Site to get a good foundation on what a Internet Business it all about..You’ll learn about Making Money Using Google… Even about Page Ranking In Google… He teaches all aspects of internet marketing at your pace…Great place to learn my friends…….

Frugal Living And Investing Basics
Well the days of a save return on your money are long gone my friends… Not that long ago to get 6-8% was a easy thing to do…The Federal Reserve has lowered interest rates in the hope you’ll either spend money or invest it into stocks or real estate. Thus propping up the economy but putting your money at a much higher risk.
So the question is how should I invest all this money I been saving? Everyone’s position is a little different but over-all I say invest into your self..Banks don’t even pay 1 % anymore…Lets look at what I’m talking about…
Got Debt? This is a grand place to start because depending on your interest rate this can be a great place to put you money into…Say you have a credit card with a 14% interest rate..When each month paying a lot more than than the minimum payment or even in a lump sum this savings can be large..Do this with all debts and then I suggest paying down the mortgage… Rid yourself of car payments also…with each payment that gets paid off most people feel a moment of relief..Besides savings tons of money.
One more part of Frugal Living and Investing Basics are utilities. These are another area we all spend way too much! Most of this come from heating and cooling..So a well insulated house can cut these cost drastically..Looking into a modern heating and/or cooling system could be a way to cut these cost also.. Check with your utility provider because they sometimes come out and do a usage audit plus rebates may be available…Look into government programs that might help pay for insulating your home..
When shopping for new appliances like a stove, washer ,dryer, refrigerator, hot water tank, etc so consider the Energy Star ones and compare the cost of operation between them..The biggest electric expense can be a electric hot water tank…This can be up to 1/3 of a power bill…Consider converting over to a tank-less gas/Propane and enjoy a over all large cost savings per month..I have saved over $70 per month for the last three years now on a $600 investment into a tank-less hot-water system(I installed it myself).. Saving close to $2500 already! A few friends still ask me about it but they’d like to do it but they just can’t afford it? Well how can you not afford it?? I’m 100% sure it is the wrong priorities with my friends. One might look into a Solar hotwater system or even build one your self… The sun is free so might as well take advantage if you can..
Transportation is a other place where money can saved with a little effort and planning.. Simple things like trip planning can save lots of fuel and time(The most priceless thing we humans have)..When out get that milk, bread ,stop at the bank, even on the way home from work, stop and pay that bill, or any other thing that you have or want to do.. Car pool or take a bus to work (Car pool with other Soccer Moms)…Not only what is saved on gasoline but the wear and tear on the car giving more saving on top..Buying a car that gets better fuel mileage can be helpful but only if a lot of driving is done..A example where buying a car to go fro 20 MPG to 50 Mpg wouldn’t be in my moms best interest because she drives less than 3000 miles per year…Things that you should be aware of are the Miles Per Gallon your car gets (Fill the tank then write down the mileage on the car. At the same time fill the gas tank drive till you need gas again refill the tank take the new mileage subtract the first one you wrote down the divide the number of gallons into the miles driven thus MPG or better known as miles per gallon)..One other important step is to see how many miles are driven on you most common trips..Like to work or for work.. Then divide the number of miles driven for a trip (like to work) into the MPG of the vehicle to see how may gallons per trip is used…Then multiply to by the current gasoline price to get the daily cost( Then by the number days per week)’ To get a monthly amount multiply by 4.3 (The number of weeks in a month).. Use these numbers to compare MPG on a car purchase… Also check the number of total miles driven per year.. This to see whether of not it a good investment to pay more for a economical car..
We all eat..One constant expense we have for being human…Frugal Living and Investing Basics is buying what we eat at the right price..Paying more doesn’t make it taste any better my friends..Stocking up on sale items and using coupons on top of that when and where ever possible..Like us, we seem to buy and eat just a few basic items..Buying these things on sale and with a coupon makes a lot of sense..The trick here is to have a idea how much you use per month/year then watch the expiration dates..
Far as investing into a bank or stocks ….. Banks pay hardly no interest and sometimes if your lucky to get 1% but your money is tied up for years… Stocks are very tricky to buy and sale…Most people who day trade lose money.(Over 90%) So my friends It is best to invest in things that save you money over time.. Money not spent is better than earned money because it tax free…..
Please watch where the moneys flows and try to keep much as possible.. Please stop back, Mr Frugal Frank
How To Save Money Fast | Frugal Living
In today’s world being slapped with tons of ads and sales pitches everywhere we turn learning how to save money fast is a difficult thing to do. Might as well chase the rainbow to find a pot of gold.. But maybe their is hope…Setting up what is your lives priorities..To quote the famous money guru Dave Ramsey actually to paraphrase him “Having a emergency fund makes emergencies turn into just a inconvenience”.. You see by putting away a little money now so when it is needed makes things go so much smother..
If the ability/skill to save is developed A whole new out look on life is made also… Imagine going to work and being able to just quit one day? Having money to get that super deal when it comes by? Start your own business ? Well the key to this is good money management skill set which includes saving money..So lets look at a couple of things here…
I like to call this the don’t touch it plan..Really helps with the over-all mindset of start savings and doing it fast.. Depending on your pay cycle what can be done is wait 2-3 days before touching any of a pay check..Then the following Pay Day add 2-3 more days onto that … keep doing this and in a short time you’ll be surprised on the amount that is in the bank..
Plan two is to pick one day a week to spend and then for the rest of the week don’t touch anymore money just make do with what you got on hand..Use the brain instead of the wallet to survive..
Get a large jar and save the change..While out do not spend any of it… When I buy gas for the car I make sure I get some change for the pot..This can lead to 100′s per year…
A thing I like to do is “Target”(No Not the Store!) my money..Like fixing my own car, the $50 I saved on putting on my own brakes is put into my special fund…Maybe using coupons in the grocery store take the coupon savings(or even part of it) and put it aside… If the electric bill is a $100 a month average go around turn things not in use off saving $25 a month put that aside…
Maybe take a second job and place that money aside..You lived so far on what you make so save all that extra money for a rainy day..What is wrong is people think because they have it it must be spent!
Look around maybe you have tons of stuff? Then sale what you don’t want or need…Use Craigslist.org ,EBay, go to a flea market, have a garage sale, etc…..But be sure to save the money…
Cut the daily expense..Quit smoking, buying coffee/pop out, car pool, pack a lunch for work, or any other thing that money is spent on a daily manner..
How to save money fast can be done anyone of these items or combining them… Please check out some other articles here on Keep Me Off Welfare Mr Frugal Frank
Frugal and Simple Living
Why are so many folks so afraid of Frugal and Simple Living? They act like it is a crime… In matter of fact I have a good friend who retired from the state police and teases me about a man who lived in a underground house with no utilities services.. Then tells how they used a fire hose to flush him out…He never told me what the crime was but some how I remind of that man…Always with a slight sinister laugh in his voice… So I’m here to tell you frugal Living is not a crime…Some times people look at you as odd one but the simpler I live the more I’m enjoying life..
Just far back as years ago we needed to net $5000 per month just to break even but with a little planning and a lot of determination we can live on as little as $1500 per month. With-in the next few years the plan is to be able to live on less than $1000 per month (Net).. Looking back life is much better now than then.. Tons of stress gone and sleeping like a baby most of the time..Even made healthy food choices ,saved money and weight loss at the very same time..Since our transformation into a Frugal and Simple Living the “social shock” hasn’t been all that bad..With that said a wish now I pushed harder and faster to get here where we are today…
It is never to late my friends… My wife and I where at Walmart yesterday and walking by a large screen T V’s with a 42 inch going for a mere $368.00..WOW ! This brought up buying behavior on the way home.. A few people who would see this might buy it even if it cause a short term money crunch…Then the next group will tell themselves NO Way can I spend $368 but find one for a payment of $40 for 36 months because they can afford $40 a month( that would be $1440) Yeah that is a much better deal?? Then the last group would say no way can I afford $50 a month then go to the Rental center and get a great deal of $27.95 per week for 18 months(77.4 weeks) or only a approximate total of $2163.33 (4.3 weeks In a Month Folks) But remember there was no way these people could afford $368 ? Looks like $1000 to $2000 more just on a TV set? How can you afford that? This happens all the time.. Just a little planning and a little will power is all it takes… doing without some thing in the short term to get what you want and/or need at a price that is affordable.. Simple! Frugal and Simple Living dosen’t always mean doing without… Maybe giving up eating out this month to get a nice TV ,Versus making payments and grossly over pay..
Not to harp on a subject but the money waste on the electric company.. Leaving things on that aren’t in use..Years ago my daughter insisted on letting a fan run in her window day and night.. I calculated the cost to around $15 per month.. Lots of fighting there till it was follow the rules or no fan..(we even had Whole house AC)… It ended up being no fan needless to say.. Why do we all leave lights on when not in a room? I still fight myself today with this.. Spending up to fifty cents a day for what?? WOW Frugal and Simple Living means not having things turned on that draw electricity when not in use? How rude can this be? I Am a strange man you can see?
It is so very easy to waste money my friends! Frugal and Simple Living doesn’t mean living like a monk or hermit either..While this New Year 2013 approaches it is a great time to evaluate the way in which you spend your hard earned money..Get the most out of life by getting the most from your money.. Very simple math… Get rid of debt and live free…Do Not be a slave to a bankster…
Stay tune to Keep Me Off Walfare for more tips on stretching that old money plus maybe even learn how to make more…
Please Keep Safe and Happy, Mr Frugal Frank
Frugal Living | New Year Resolution
It is that Time of year to make them New Year Resolutions.. Whether it is losing weight, quit smoking/drinking, saving money or many other things. Today is Dec 12,2012 suppose to be the last day of the world.. But I fear not my friends we are stuck here on this huge rock known as earth..Today I want to talk about what I have accomplished in 2012 and what I plan to do to improve my financial future/life style..
One thing I did this year is I shopped around and saved about $500 on car insurance..Plus I paid in full when I got it because they charge for a payment plan. Many people tell me they can’t afford to do that but if you can’t save a little how can you spend a extra $100 or per year? Like my friend Emil says all the time “Focus People” …Your Life is about the total of what is spent..If you feel this way a great New Year Resolution is to figure out how to cut spending and save a little money…..This year in 2013 the plan is to double check auto rates to make sure I’m getting the best rate with a good company( Erie ).. The next part is to get a better rate on my homeowner but I need to do about $300 in some minor but important repairs…The savings then should be $200-$300 per year…
The very first thing I’m going to do and maybe as early as next week is to fix my truck…The check engine light is on and the Code(which Auto Zone will run a code check for free).. Says I need a $85.00 O2 sensor…Got prices on getting it done from $200-$350….I have the ability to do it myself so hopefully over this Christmas week I will get it done.. This is a real shame because it didn’t get last year at this time because it will increase my Mile Per Gallon (MPG) and have a cost savings of $150/m0nth($1800.00 per year)..Sometime priorities are just put in the wrong place with factors like the lack of money or in this case lack of time ( sure bad planning had a part to do with it)… What would you do if $1800 a year was at stake… Then I compare this amount to my net monthly income…If my net income was say $1800 per month then it would be like getting a extra months pay… This is why looking at daily expenses adding up on a yearly view can give a much better way of managing your money…How many places do you think that can do this for you also? Hope many…
Looking around I find the electric bill has been creeping -up the last few years with our usage down a bit but the bill is up because prices are going up..Well In my situation there are a few things to be done.. Since we don’t have natural gas and live out in the country the plan is to convert the stove and clothes dryer into propane… we already 3 years ago change the hot water from electric to propane saving $70 plus a month… Been reading electric should double in cost over the next four years…This going to about $1000 with a used dryer and a new stove with a savings of about $40 a month at current power cost…The savings over a year is $480… Now the pay back for this investment would be a little over two years… Pay Back is the amount of time it takes to recoup what has been invested by the amount of money save per month..
On the list is Buying a 500 gallon Propane tank outright( Monthly rental charges will kill you) and then Pre-Pay for the propane on a bulk contract..The cost of this tank is 0-$800 depending if a promotion is going on..
As A hobby but to be practical at the same time a plan toward late summer is to build a little solar farm building my own panels using batteries to store the power and a sine wave power inverter with a cost of $1000 -$2000 to start…Pay-Back will only be $20-$30 per month but living out in the country and having not power outages from time to time will be priceless..
Last but not least is to do some major insulating to a old part of my house which should cost $2000-$3000 doing the work myself…Just not the savings here will have a 2 year Pay-Back but the comfort it will bring into our home…
While setting these New Year Resolutions I also have a dream list..Things if I find at the right price I will make mine…. Such as a VW TDI car…. New Garage door(used will do)
Stop and ponder on what You can do this New Year coming..Improve You life by getting more out of what you spend.. Onl;y You can make a difference toward financial freedom… Dream my friends and make it happen…You can do it..
Have A Blessed 2013

People Networking| Small Business Basics
I was recently told by a reliable source that we are only six people away from networking to anyone in the world? Sounds pretty far fetched but on the other hand can this little tidbit of information have some truth to it?
When I was a much younger person a friend of mine gave me a book about How To Network. Funny it didn’t seem to serve him well but the lessons I got from it I still use today.
In another point before I go on any more is about another encounter with a gentleman Bob who bought a company that I had doing business for over a decade at the time taught me a simple but profound statement that also served me well in the coming years. Bob said to me ” Business is all about relationships” referring to relationships with people! Now seeing what business is really about will but you on the right track. You see even the biggest and longest lasting are basically building relationships with people. So when the networking with people this will become a string of relationships.
So what is Networking? It is the ability to meet the people you need to meet to get the task or goal set forth. You need to find offices to clean for your new up-start cleaning business, you are going to have to find people who need their office cleaned. Just that simple..
How can I network? At first you might want to become obsessed about this new venture.. Tell everyone you know and see! Don’t only tell the people that seem obvious but everyone because You don’t know who is connected to who. That Who can be your next job. I am not going to mention this to my church friends because they don’t have a job or a office that needs cleaned. Wrong because they just might have had a discussion the other day with someone who is looking for a person like you.Word of mouth is a very powerful tool.. Word of mouth combined with great service a lot of time is all anyone needs to build a great and lucrative business!
Get involved with people! Do some volunteer work, Go to a large church of your choice, Walk the dog in a park, spend times with friends and family, join a club or group of people with the same interest, Take a class one something that you like(Dosen’t have to be related to what you do), Don’t snub people you view as competition they might become a good connection(be careful not to give up to much information though), or just anywhere people gather. But I do know for a fact sitting home in front of the TV or playing games on the computer isn’t going to get you anywhere. Get out and meet people old friends and make new connections.
Get involved in Social Networks like Face Book, Twitter, Pinterest, plus there are many more places to social network evolving everyday. Treating people with respect is the key to point in Small Business Basics. Remember this as You Network. Even if up to this point in your life this has been a failure tomorrow is a new day..
One other place to People Networking is Craigslist .. One great thing it is free>> I Love Free>>> Be very careful because of scammers on it though.. I use it myself for some of my mini ventures myself.. At a later date I’m going to do a write-up of managing a Craigslist ad campaign. This will be a article all it’s self.. Some thing I found on my own..
Here is a other type of networking and I call it target networking.. Lets say you business has a use for the government? Lets say I have a sign business and want to sell street signs..Would I start fresh on a low budget and Try to get work from the Federal Government? No, I would start with the smaller local towns then work up bigger and bigger towns/Cities.. I would/could send out professional looking brochures? But that might not be enough so going to the different council meetings then hanging around to meet the council members if possible. Also helping out with different folks running for office (win or lose you have a good chance of meeting someone who is a good connection for you goals). Then if Successful Work on a state or more then if You expand to a larger size company then with all the Network in place get that Federal Contract..
Hope this has helped but later We’re going to talk on how to close the deal..People Networking is just one little step on closing the deal…. All this work is worthless if You can’t close a deal and one that works for you (Makes Money!)
How To Understand Money and Frugal Living
If Your having money troubles and want to fix it understanding money is key to solving the problem. It appears to me many, many people Do Not understand money and how it works at all.
Lets look at some type of money views..The minute I get Money I got to spend it now..This probably came from being a little child wanting your own way..Well if you here your not a little child. Time to take off the dunce cap and use that old thinking cap as they said in school.
Are you A take it now and pay later type? I A lot of people are your not alone.Do you think the person selling something cares about your well being? Don’t think they care about anything but their commission I bet.Way too many folks get sucked into the debt trap..They let the sales person explain how this debt is so good for you while the only thing they are looking at is a commission check..
Then I what I see at the gas stations people paying ton of money on junk food/coffee/pop/smokes…Everyday just like a drug addict needing a fix? Insecure about their money only putting a few dollars in gas tank while knowing they got to go to work all week? The time and gas they waste in their lives.Take that time in the morning and make a pot of coffee, two pound cost me about $7.50 on sale last us two months are so..What you save in a few days pays for a couple months in coffee.. Anyways these people waste a lot of time and money aver all.
Then we have I deserve the best.. You might know someone like this? Starbucks three times a day? Well this can be OK but if you can pay your bills and save a few dollars in the bank maybe it is time to do a little rethinking about what is truly important.
Well lets talk about money? What is money?Well it has many forms you see. A Lot is just pieces of paper such as paper money, stocks, bonds,IOU’s(Our current money system),real estate, autos, gold, silver, diamonds or any other items/services in which you can get something in return.
One basic form of money is a true barter system.I will cut your grass this week and I will then expect a hair cut in return..The issue with this is how do I pay taxes on this(if done all the time) and Grass needs cut once a week but my hair only 3-4 months. So to make things more workable we exchange IOU’s or better known as money.
So now I cut your lawn for $30 and the person who gives hair cuts gets $15 so now I can cut the lawn every week and that hair cut person can cut other peoples hair who now have a IOU from someone else’s services/ items.
The true value of money all boils down to a service someone, somewhere provided. If no one made or did anything money would have no value. Just look at all the stuff around the world..Everywhere you look wealth can be seen. Things that have been created by a person somewhere in the world.
Most of the time debt subtracts from the value of money.Exceptions can be found though. Here is one positive example: Your hot water tank is electric and the operation of it cost $85/month… To install a propane/gas one yourself will cost $600..Now hot water cost around $15/month..So in 6 months in savings you got $600 back..So if borrowing the $600 might be a good idea if You use the savings to pay the loan off in six months or so. Be Careful not to use this math like this to justify wants..A example would be paying much more for a auto that gets extreme gas mileage when You drive only a few miles per month..I try to keep the pay back in less than two years..But when I started I do things I feel the time is less than a year(Months).
I wasn’t always into Frugal Living but I do say it was embedded into my heart by mom.So I always weighted my purchases for value but not to as the extreme I do now.But understanding money is a key part of the Frugal Living Lifestyle.
How is debt a part of money? Well we are taught debt is a great thing. I don’t agree on at all. Can it be useful? Rarely but sometimes buying a thing/service that at this time one dosen’t have the money on hand but can either save a lot a money( In the short term) or make a lot of money in a short amount of time. Then some short term debt can be a very good thing.. Debt has ruined lots and lots of people..Why? Because it adds a unknown factor to money and that is time/future.These two items can put a wrench into the money plan. The Future is something no can predict so life WILL come at you very fast sometimes causing major disruptions into the money flow…We are taught that time “Heals all”? Not true because time causes rot and decay also.Like the rising cost of everything but wages nowadays. So Frugal Living shouldn’t include a large debt plan at all.Debt destroys wealth.
The best thing to do to truly understand your money is get a paper and pen and write down every purchase made for at least a month.Down to the penny! Then evaluate what ,where and when the money was spent. After that come with a plan to get the most out of You Life using what You got. Make changes one thing at a time. Trying to change in one day never seems to work.. Maybe make a change per week… But always try to improve Your Life my friend ..Live a happier life b with less stress living with-in our amount of money we have.
Small Business Basics| Bookkeeping
Hope your here because you launched the new adventure?
Now some little boring but important thing to talk about.
Maybe finding a simple book/online course might be helpful?
Knowing whether or not the need to collect any sales taxes also can be important thing to find out.
If say as a example you start a small cleaning business and your the only person working it. Having only 20 jobs a week just keeping a simple ledger should so the job..I put all my income in one book and pay my expenses out of a other.. then on the back of one of them I do a monthly income minus expenses to get a net income.. Then quarterly pay the estimated fed, state, local and any sales taxes(if they apply)..If you chose not to do this most likely a business failure will occur..
If you like a program like Quick-Books makes thing go faster and more efficient but again do you this money? If not do it this why till your on firm financial ground.
Doing taxes on a small business can be done with Turbo Taxes. I use this instead of paying one of them companies. All they basically do is use a similar program ask you the same questions but you pay them to type in the info. One other use I use but not be 100% accurate is the use to get a idea on how different things I buy/sale or the amount of income will affect next years earning/tax liabilities.
If things expand the bookkeeping will change and the simple ledger won’t do anymore. It will cost money by missing tax items and time doing the input work. So moving up into Quick Books or some like program will become a reality.
Best of luck in your new small business..May it grow beyond Your Dreams, Mr Frugal Frank
Check List For Starting A Business
Most people would think having money would be the number thing someone would need to start a business? Well not all ventures require any cash but only your labor.
What is a business? Well it is anything that is sold as a product or service for a start. This what we are going to focus on here.So what is the most important thing? It is a PLAN..A well thought out to boot. It is not just a Dream but doing the research in which will make you successful.
The first check is the PLAN.
Check two would be do I have what I need to start? What is the minimum things/skills do I need? Example: Do I have a mop, broom, bucket or other supplies to start my little one person cleaning business?
Number three then if I need equipment / supplies do I have enough money do acquire them? If so we can move onto the forth check mark.
So your ready to go with no where to go? Number four is a plan to “Get The Word Out”. Whether you us a news paper, small signs , go door to door, ask friends and acquaintances . It is important to get off to a good start.
The fifth check mark is to make sure you follow through with the plan.Be on time! Do what you say and say what you do. This means if you say your going to clean the ceiling, clean it! But if you don’t clean ceilings say that too but in a polite way.Try to be 100% positive in every way, this will bring much more to you business than you could ever imagine
Six is make sure to plan time to keep record keeping.Do this on a consistent time schedule.I find if I don’t stop a few time s a week to keep good records I lose receipts(expenses) which can cost a lot later when the taxes are done.
If your starting a one man little business(Or with a spouse or friend) these should be the things you need to get going. As things grow other things should be added to this check list.. Maybe getting some liability insurance should be on here also.
Talk to a professional about a structure of incorporation to help protect yourself from personal liabilities. Also as things grow it might be beneficial to change the bookkeeping to a more advance style.so also check with a professional on this item too.
I sure this little piece was a help..So Please come back again Mr Frugal Frank
